HIKINGWEEK: FJÄLL XXL
|
Detailed programArrival and departure day are freely choosable upon consultation. Day 1: ArrivalYou travel individually to Vilhelmina and we organize the transfer from the airport or the bus station to our camp. You are accommodated in a double room where you have time to set up yourself. Afterwards we get to know each other during a cozy dinner. Day 2: Husky trekkingToday you get to know our fourlegged companions. After some first cuddles and dogkisses, we load the dogs into the car and drive approx. 15 min to the base of our backyard mountain Björnberget. You get a hikingbelt and the dogs get their harness. Afterwards we begin our hike up to the highest point. The trail takes us over hill and dale and it can sporadially be quite wet. Good and waterproof hikingboots are key. But the effort is totally worth it: During good weatherconditions, we will be rewarded with a spectacular 360° panorama. Day 3-7: Multi-day hike in the mountainsThe starting point of our multi-day hike is directly on the Vildmarksvägen, the highest paved road in Sweden. The Vildmarksvägen takes us through the spectacular mountain scenery of Swedish Lapland. Some of the highlights along our route are: Trappstegsfors, the spectacular Marsfjäll, Dimfors, view from Stalonberget, Stekenjokk and the Sami settlement of Fatmomakke. According to your wishes we will make stops along the way and enjoy the fantastic nature. Overnight day 3: camping nearby Jillie Raabtseje, ca. 15 km The starting point of our hike is the village of Saxnäs and the nearby Satsfjäll. From the parking lot, we hike off-trail along the foot of Satsfjäll and climb up into the spectacular world above the tree line for the first time. With the Satsfjäll to our left and the Renfjäll to our right, we enjoy the view and hike on through fell birch forest, cross bogs and finally reach an old hiking trail, which we follow from now on. But don't be fooled by the term “hiking trail”. Although the path is partly marked with stones, it has been forgotten over the years. Anyone expecting a well-trodden path will be disappointed. Off-trail over hill and dale is still the motto. At the end of our day's stage, we reach a plateau, where we look for a nice place to spend the night. Overnight day 4: camping nearby Geartoe, ca. 14.5 km Today we spend the entire day above the tree line in the mountains. We continue along the old hiking trail, past picturesque lakes and across small rivers. We circle the Saagke massif and finally reach the Lapplandsleden trail, which we follow for the rest of the hike. Today's destination is the emergency hut at Geartoe, where we can find shelter if necessary. However, as the hut is not open for overnight stays, we set up our tent again this evening and enjoy the view of the valley. Overnight day 5: camping nearby Aessie, ca. 11 km We continue along the Lapplandsleden and hike through a high valley with spectacular views. Again and again we catch sight of the Korpån river, the “Raven River”, which continues to rise until it finally reaches a width of several meters and rushes impressively down into the valley. We gradually leave the mountains and enter a forest and marshland landscape. After a little over 10 kilometers, we pitch our tent near a windbreak. First, however, we have to find a suitable place to cross the Garsjohke River since there is no bridge there. Overnight day 6: camping near Sierkåelkie, ca. 14 km We spend the first part of the day below the tree line, where we continue to follow the Laplandsleden. Shortly before the village of Borgafjäll, we leave this trail and turn north onto the Konstleden, the “art trail”. Now the strenuous part of today's hike begins as we have to climb around 500 meters in altitude. We will hopefully be rewarded for our efforts with spectacular views. Once at the top, we pass the Gaalloe emergency hut, where we can find shelter if necessary. However, if the weather conditions are good, we hike a little further and set up camp for the night near Sierkåelkie. Day 7: Saxnäs, ca. 9 km Today our hike takes us back to the starting point at the parking lot in Saxnäs. We enjoy the mountains one last time and slowly descend into the valley, where we meet the picturesque river Satsån. But don't get too excited. Shortly before we reach the parking lot, we have to climb a few more (quite challenging) meters in altitude. But here too we will hopefully be rewarded with spectacular views. Afterwards, we take the Vildmarksvägen again and have the opportunity to visit the highlights that we may have missed on the way up. Overnight stays / requirements There are no huts available on this tour and we spend the night in tents. Due to the fact that most of the route is on unmarked terrain, off the beaten track, this tour requires a good level of physical fitness. The daily stages are not too long in purely mathematical terms, but it is important to bear in mind that progress is slower in such terrain. A hiking speed of less than 3 km/h is not uncommon. As we are travelling with a tent and therefore are flexible, the route can be shortened after the first day of hiking and adapted according to your wishes. Day 8: DepartureAfter saying goodbye to the dogs, we organize the transfer back to Vilhelmina and you start your trip home. Included services
